  1. Some people need to be reminded that being your current age happens only once in a lifetime. Yet it does happen, somewhere. Every day, just about.

    1. Hi Roger. Pretty girl, olympic swimmer, muscles, nice butt. Seems to me all interrelated somehow. What’s their precise point of contact? Er, well, youth. That, to me, was the obvious connection. That & a hefty dose of just being silly, explains my reaction.

In a way, I was mocking “today’s the 1st day of the rest of your life” & similar trite sayings. Like, what exactly happens only once?

Being your current age happens to you every day. It happens to many other people every day, too. Being the age you are today also happens to many people every day, unless you’re seriously old. “Just about every day” sounds thoughtful. Like, hey, I can think of exceptions. Only, there aren’t any. “Just about” pretty much rules out all the potentially valid interpretations of any sensible thought I could’ve meant. You can see, now, that I’m a humorous chap, indeed.

      1. Thank you. I have found I often need to explain why a particular thought occurrs to me, or people just regard what I say as a complete non sequitur. It’s not obligatory, of course; a good thought can stand on its own.
