  1. You guys should do well in the pool with home ocean advantage, no?
Speaking of Antipodean stuff, I just got a notice from a local DC venue that I’ll (maybe) be able to use my Hoodoo Gurus tickets from Nov. 2020 next year in May. One slow moving tour. Something about a virus.

    1. Bill, having to swim faster than the sharks, crocs and assorted bite stingy things, we should be able to swim fast 😀

The hoodoo gurus! That’s my scene… lucky bugger, haven’t seen them since having a drink at a bar in Brisbane in 1987.

      Rock on

      1. Greg, I first saw them opening for the Bangles 86 or 87. Had never heard of them but it was love at first note. “Tojo (never made it to Darwin)” immediately became a personal anthem. Was astonished years later to find out it was actually an answer song about a typhoon – Faulkner is one clever dude, with a little less hair now.
Have seen them every time they’ve been back here, last time in ’07. Was taking classes in Greek at Catholic and they absolutely ruined me for Thucydides the next day. The prof asked me if I was ok and I told her it was just too much rock n’ roll the previous, which cracked the class up (I was in my late 50s). The upcoming US tour has been given the unofficial tag of “It’s about time”.
Always a great live band wherever. They fired their first drummer for not playing as hard in the back of beyond as he did in say Sydney or Melbourne. There’s a really good 2 dvd set out on them, one disc a documentary and the other mainly live performances. Rock on yourself!

        1. Fantastic live band, we had such a huge pub band culture in the 70s and 80s

          All gone by the youtubeside

  2. Since this is Scoopy’s page I think I have to mention that Mu looks like her nipples are pierced in the photo!

    1. yes, pretty noticeable given the skin tight tops. I guess it is a sign she can endure pain. Olympic trial winner (later banned) Sha’Carri Richardson also had some pretty obvious piercings

      1. The 800 is plenty of pain all by itself. Can’t sprint and can’t treat it like a long run. Got drafted into running it a couple of times in HS. No fun.

    2. My choice of photos was not accidental, but I chose to let the headline reflect her impressive achievement rather than her impressive nipples.

      1. From some of the other pictures I’ve seen from those moments right after the race, it’s pretty apparent she’s adorned with barbells or some other kind of jewelry

  3. So you won a medal.at the track… been a bit disappointing for you guys this time around…

Only 2 more gold.than us Aussies in the pool as well.

    1. Brilliant statement we have the most medals than any other country and if you actually watched this is not our first gold in track and how was that swimming relay race you Aussies really did well in men’s NOT

        1. Well, to be fair, Greg, it is very difficult to tell when someone is making a deadpan joke on the Internet. I think there is a saying about that. Now I have to go listen to the Hoodoo Gurus and see what I have been missing. If anything. (JK, JK!)

          1. I didn’t see the race, I was watching the US beat us in the soccer, the basketball x 2 and the beach volleyball.. and given that we were not talking politics, I imagined we were back taking a more jocular tone and not being as tribal…

            We need a sarcasm gif

          2. Start with Stoneage Romeos and Mars Needs Guitars, then keep going. Lots of really good performance clips out there. Great great band.

          3. A) Wouldn’t a smiley serve in most cases to let people know that humor is intended?

            B) Thanks for the starting Hoodoo suggestions.
