A Houston broom sweeps clean

They swept the Mariners, then swept the Yankees on their way to the World Series.

And the ‘Stros also had the league’s best record in the regular season.

Except for Harrison “Darth” Bader, the Yankees had nothin’ in the ALCS series.

The Phillies did not have an impressive regular season. At the end of May they were 21-29. They finished with a mediocre 87-75 record, barely enough to make the post-season.

But they surely chose a good time to get hot.

It’s Houston vs Philadelphia for all the marbles.

  1. I was going to do some kind of takeoff on The Cheater, the one and only magnum opus by Bob Kuban and the In-Men. But when I pulled up the lyrics, I couldn’t believe it – far dumber than I remembered, Nothing to work with. Made “There ain’t no one for to give you no pain” sound like Joni or Ray Davies by comparison.
I’ll just have to swallow hard and think about Dusty Baker, former Nats manager, and Michael Brantley, former well-loved Tribesman, won’t be playing, getting rings, The last team that beat the Cheaters in a WS had two guys named after Barca Bros. Annibal Sanchez and Asdrubal Cabrera. Never heard of anyone named Mago (the third Barcid). I know, too many Punic Wars refs. No Carthaginians on the Phils.
Good job “represenTing”, Wanks, Right, Michael?

  2. Houston had a great season. But the Dodgers won 111 games. That was 5 more wins than Houston.
