Pennsylvania isn’t like where you live

Pennsylvania state representative reelected despite being dead

“While we’re incredibly saddened by the loss of Representative Tony DeLuca, we are proud to see the voters to continue to show their confidence in him.”

Makes sense to me. Not many people voted for Lazarus, and then they were sorry when he lost to a MJGA candidate just before his resurrection.

  1. Actually, Missouri IS like Pennsylvania. In 2000, John Ashcroft (who was the incumbent at the time) ran against Governor Mel Carnahan who died in a plane crash 3 weeks before the election. Ashcroft LOST by nearly 50,000 votes, and became the first US Senate candidate in history to lose to a dead person. As Robin Williams said at the time, “Sorry John, we have to vote for the dead man because he scares us less than you do!”

  2. I know nothing about Rep. DeLuca or his district other than he was a Democrat. But given that his district previously voted for a Democrat it isn’t all that hard to understand why they voted to reelect him even though he was dead. This way they will have the opportunity to vote for a live Democrat in a special election.

    1. I see no reason why he should not serve out his term. Sure, he’ll miss a few roll call votes, but he should save the taxpayers a lot of money on salary, expenses, and staff.

In fact, he may come close to becoming my new favorite American politician of all time, replacing my former main man, William Henry Harrison.
