Speaking of great 1982 nudity. (Adam brought this up in a Jamie Lee Curtis thread.)
Of all the great, well-known nude scenes, this is the one with the worst representation. The American version cut out the nudity. The European theatrical version, which has all the nudity, has never been issued in digital media. I think I did as good a job as anyone has ever done on these scenes, which is to say that my captures suck, but don’t suck as hard as the others I’ve seen. I made these in 2006 from a dubbed standard-definition broadcast on Italian TV – which means it was about the same quality as a below-average DVD. And that’s still better than anything else I’ve found.
I would love to see these in Blu-Ray quality. But this is all I have:
I also let AI take a shot at enlarging them. Mixed results
The best video I have, which stinks.
Also in the Amazing year of 1982:
Nastassja Kinski in Cat People
I saw this on US cable at one point. Cinemax maybe. Not sure except I damn near yanked it off to my video taped copy.
There’s a chance that there’s a VHS copy from that era someone dubbed off. Won’t be great, but maybe better than this?
Don’t forget Annette O’Toole was in Cat People, too. Far more interesting than Nasty, IMO.
These scenes in Blue-Ray or UHD are one of my holy grails. But the fact that there instead even a decent digital version after all these years makes me think it’s not going to be possible.
Natasha Kinski in Cat People deserves an AI attempt…
