Ken doll uses a VERY rude expletive??

The seemingly innocent footage from the 2010 animation shows a moment between Barbie and Ken, in which the latter is heard saying either ‘Oh, Barbie’ or ‘Oh fuck’.”

This nonsense has been around since the film was released. Not sure why it suddenly went viral.

  1. U.S President John F Kennedy did not get along well with Canadian Prime Minister John Diefenbaker. When they met in Ottawa, among other things, Kennedy disliked Diefenbaker for forcing him to do a photo-op planting a tree where Kennedy further aggravated his back.

Kennedy was known for having terrible handwriting and at this meeting the U.S was pushing Canada to join the Organization of American States (OAS.) Diefenbaker retreived a document from the garbage bin a document entitled “What we want from the Ottawa visit” in which Kennedy wrote in the margins either “What shall we tell the SOB about that?” or “What shall we tell the OAS about that?”

The U.S State Department explained “How could the President call him (Diefenbaker) a son of a bitch? We didn’t know at the time what a son of a bitch he was.”

    1. That’s a great anecdote, although not quite accurate.

      1) It was Kennedy himself who said, when clarifying the incident with a denial, that he could not have expressed that opinion because “At the time I didn’t know what kind of a guy Diefenbaker was.” He said that on the record, to Time’s Hugh Sidey.

      2) Kennedy later confided to Ben Bradlee that he knew the accusation could not be accurate because he never thought of Diefenbaker as an “SOB” at any time. If it had been true, he would have used a different word. “I thought he was a prick,” Kennedy bluntly recalled.

      3) The whole story was apocryphal to begin with. That Rostow memo, supposedly the source of the scribbled remarks, still exists intact. It is now among Diefenbaker’s papers at the University of Saskatchewan, and there is nothing at all written in the margins.

But there’s no doubt Kennedy called Diefenbaker a prick, so the true story is possibly even better.

Trichardy Richard Nixon expressed a similar lack of regard for another PM, Pierre Trudeau, calling him at times “an asshole,” “son of a bitch,” “that socialist asshole,” and “a pompous egghead.” And Nixon liked Trudeau! Imagine how he talked about those he hated.

Trudeau famously responded that he had been called worse things by better people.

      1. I got the anecdote from a from a book called 18 Men: The Prime Ministers of Canada by journalist Gordon Donaldson. This is the third edition, the first edition was entitled ’15 Men’ (and the second 16 men) because this version included Joe Clark, John Turner and Brian Mulroney.

However, this meeting happened in 1962 and Pierre Trudeau did not even become Prime Minister until 1968. So, there were years to correct the record. What this shows to me is that the media engaged in sensationalism long before the internet era.

The part about Kennedy aggravating his back seems to be clearly factual though.

President Reagan I gather also didn’t care much for Trudeau. I don’t know about Jimmy Carter but Gerald Ford helped Canada, if not specifically Trudeau, when he helped Canada get into the G7 over the objections of France.

Prime Minister Lester Pearson also angered his U.S Presidential compatriot, Lyndon Johnson when he gave a speech at Temple University in Philadelphia the day meeting Johnson at Camp David, wherein Pearson called for a halt to bombing in North Vietnam in return for peace talks. This was especially serious since Pearson was regarded as the leading diplomat of his day and so it was assumed by diplomats all over the world that Pearson wouldn’t have made this comment without Johnson asking him to. However, this was not correct and Johnson was annoyed both that Pearson said it, and the ramifications that it caused. One version is that at their meeting, Johnson picked Pearson up by the scruff of his neck.
