Game recap. The Bengals let it slip from their grasp. So it goes. I had no dog in the hunt, but the Bengals would have been my preference.

The commercials. I like the one with Larry David, but that may because I just like Larry David. Larry travels through history and shits on the wheel, the light bulb, democracy, etc.

The halftime show did its traditional tribute to people who used to be popular.

  1. I don’t think Rams fans have huge bragging rights, like “Burrow choked” or “They should drafted Sewell over Chase”, etc. If the Bengals hadn’t been dumb enough to have Eli Apple cover Kupp on the Rams’ last drive, they probably would’ve won. Single coverage, using a lousy corner, on the best receiver in the NFL, in the end zone, with a minute left, in the SB?! You deserve to lose.

As for the ads, a crying shame to see Dolly Parton sell her soul to T-Mobile. There aren’t many superstars with a shred of integrity when it comes to shilling shit, but she was one of ’em. Not anymore.

    1. Depends on where the money that Parton got for the commercial goes….I’d be interested to know.

  2. I love Larry David and would’ve liked the commercial more if it wasn’t for a reprehensible cryptocurrency company. Yeech.

    1. I wonder whether Larry David even understands crypto.

I even wonder whether I understand crypto.

  3. After all those years of never complaining that he was surrounded by the Detroit Lions, it was good to see Stafford win the big one. I muted the commercials and did my taxes during halftime. Kirk is a net-famous peckerhead though. If anyone pissed him off, good job.

  4. Over on Fark, there is a thread about a post by someone named Charlie Kirk, who said “The NFL is now the league of sexual anarchy. This halftime show should not be allowed on television.”

I am sorry if Charlie Kirk is deeply reprehensible (some people on Fark seem to think so) but I thought his remark might mean that the show was something that people here might enjoy. At the very least, I cannot remember anyone here speaking out strongly against sexual anarchy. I thought it was one of those things that was controversial 50 years ago, but is commonly accepted now, like no-knock searches of homes and apartments.

The show is probably on YouTube. I await reports from people whose taste I am more familiar with than this Kirk person’s.
