Wait! Tucker Carlson is the voice of reason?

According to other news sources, Tucker was also instrumental in getting the administration to start taking COVID-19 seriously. I am having a hard time dealing with this harsh new reality.

From the “Where there’s smoke” department: In 2012, the US senate voted 96-3 to ban insider trading by lawmakers using non-public information. Burr was one of the three who voted against it! (It passed the House 417-2.) Of the three senators who voted against the bill, Burr is the only one still in office. One of the Representatives who voted “NAY” is still in office, but will not seek re-election in 2020.

I’m starting to think this Burr fellow may not be on the up-and-up.

  1. Dennis said: “…somebody’s baking dog on covid-19.”

I am not trying to be rude or snarky, but what does “someone’s baking dog” mean here? Is it sort of like “someone’s making book”, which is an old expression for taking bets, IIRC? Thanks for any enlightenment.

  2. Hannity seems to be ready to go down with the ship. Daily he’s coming up with same wackadoodle way to blame China, WHO, mainstream media, the impeachment process, Obama…. somebody’s baking dog on covid-19

      1. Clearly, if the Dems hadn’t started impeachment proceedings this never would have happened as Trump wouldn’t have been distracted….and he would have been able to bring his laser light like focus to the Corona virus.

Baghdad Bob the First (from beyond the grave).

  3. Senator Burr has never been trustworthy in my opinion – and I’m a Republican.

He, or anyone else who tried to profit off of the China Virus should be investigated. If they are guilty of insider trading I hope they are prosecuted, no matter which political party.

That goes for Diane Feinstein too. I don’t hear anyone mentioning her, but she may have profited more than anyone.

    1. There’s a key difference. The GOP senators publicly downplayed the virus while conducting stock sell offs. Feinstein did not.

At least you tried to make a “both sides do it” argument. You failed miserably but its the lack of thought that counts.

      1. playgroundpsychotic said said: “blah blah blah Democrat bad means Republicans good” or words to that effect.

        Yep, username checks out.

          1. You are probably right, fwald. Sometimes I fly off the handle. If so, I apologize to fwald. I thought he was trying to defend the Republicans by accusing a Democrat of doing the same thing. I could easily have gotten his intent wrong. Thanks.

          2. Jeebus, I meant I apologize to playgroundpsychotic. Maybe I should stop posting today.

      2. While that is a key MORAL difference, there is no legal difference if Feinstein profited from private info.

    2. You say insider trading, but are completely cool with lobbyists paying off the Republican party to lower the corporate tax rate when Trump came into office. Then the CEO proceeded to use the money, not for jobs, but for stock buybacks to raise the stock prices. Stock prices where executives personal compensation is IN the price of the shares. Then the executives pull out their shares after direct stock manipulation to their own benefit.

Lets not pretend this is a new thing for the GOP, they do this all the time, it’s just more egregious with the pandemic. The same way Trump and McConnell want to present themselves in a time of crisis, but allow pharmaceutical companies to charge 10,000% the cost of life saving drugs and then go take money from lobbyists and Super PACs to let them keep on doing it.

Don’t use ethics and Republican in the same sentence, because we damn sure know that doesn’t exist. Faux outrage is only because it came out, not that he did it, because Trump, McConnell, Graham and the rest of the anti-humanity cult do it on the regular.

      1. Dear Roger,

I thought I was being exceptionally witty in my post. AND YOU RUINED IT!

As penance you must listen to this in its entirety:

Frank Zappa and Yoko Ono! Its great.

  4. With Tucker its pretty easy to figure it out. If its potentially really bad for white people, he’ll start whining about it. Covid19 is really bad for white people.

  5. I hope this is FOX News pivot now, and they end this bullshit propaganda era. This guy was never as bad as Hannity to begin with, but it’s probably a pipe dream this changes the batshit lies from the network.

    1. “This guy was never as bad as Hannity”

Talk about damning with faint praise. The same comment could be made about anyone, possibly excepting Goebbels.

  6. Maybe some Republicans, like Carlson or Cruz, have had their eyes opened by the utterly transparent nature of Trump’s villainy? I mean, it’s hard to both have a brain and be fooled by him, unless you very much want to be. Maybe they don’t want to be any more. Maybe they think there is no future in it.

It’s almost certainly too much to hope for, but it’s nice to think about.

    1. Obviously, Carlson knows that Donald Trump is a not too bright self absorbed liar. I think a large percentage, if not most of his supporters, know this. But they choose to support him because they feel the U.S. is better off with Trump in the White House than a Democrat. Unfortunately for those that choose to support him, that support often includes defending the indefensible. There are many examples of politicians’ outrageous behavior being ignored or defended by partisans on both sides. But obviously with Trump it has gone to another level.

For those of us that care deeply about politics, there can be an almost instinctual urge to defend a member of our “tribe” when they are attacked by the opposing “tribe.” I do my best to look at issues objectively, neither automatically supporting or criticizing Trump’s actions and policies. That can be hard sometimes. I realize I am probably willing to give a Republican the benefit of the doubt, so I try to do the same for Democrats. But I don’t always succeed in that regard.

      1. Michael McChesney said: “Obviously, Carlson knows that Donald Trump is a not too bright self absorbed liar.” I do not consider this obvious from anything Tucker Carlson has said or done. I assume you mean he is too intelligent NOT to know these things. I would suggest A) that this is a what might be called “a fact not in evidence”, and B) in order to be a full-on Trump supporter, a person has to be very careful about what they allow themselves to know.

I respect the sentiment in your closing paragraph, and appreciate your efforts in that regard. I make the same effort with regard to Republican VOTERS. I am finding it very difficult with regard to top Republican politicians. I sincerely hope I am being unjust..

        1. I remember when I was in law school we would sometimes be given fact patterns and assigned to draft arguments for or against a plaintiff or defendant. While these fact patterns were created to be balanced equally between the parties, I noticed that as I drafted my argument I found myself feeling my side should win. But when the assignment flipped and I had to argue the other side my opinion changed. I think it just says something about our competitive natures.

Now with Carlson, you are right, I say obviously he must know Trump lies because he is too intelligent not to know. But as I was saying above, many if not most conservatives have decided it is necessary to support Trump because they believe he is better than a Democrat. They feel they must loyally support him even when he is in the wrong. But when you repeat arguments often enough, you may start to convince yourself. I think that’s what happened with much of his base. That’s my amateur psychoanalysis anyway.

        2. I replied to your reply of my comment earlier today. After I clicked “post comment” it said it would appear after it was reviewed by a moderator. I have no idea why as I don’t think I said anything that would trigger that (i.e. no profanity or denigration of any ethnic group). Not to mention Scoopy says he doesn’t moderate any comments. This has happened to me before. Weird. The server probably has it in for me because I am not sufficiently loyal to Trump…

          1. I don’t know what pushed your comment to the moderation bin. Something in the bot rules. I’d have to check. The only thing I know for sure is that the bot requires all posts with links to be moderated, but there are no links in your post, so it is some other rule of which I’m unaware.
