I don’t usually root for or against specific teams, but in this case I’m happy to see a win for the scrappy underdogs, and it’s nice to see Kendrick clean his slate after having played first base as poorly as Doctor Strangeglove himself. After that dinger, nobody will ever remember those errors.
By the way, did you look at Kendrick’s regular season stats? At age 36 he batted .344 with a .967 OPS.
It was another good day for the Yankees, even though they didn’t play. The National League’s two strongest teams were eliminated, making the league send a representative to the World Series with no more than 93 wins.
Indeed, Nationals went 74-38 after their first 50 games. An excellent record. If anything, the Nationals should probably be favored to win the World Series.
II don’t know about that. The Nats’ bullpen is especially cringeworthy, and in a 7-game seres they’re not going to be able to ride Scherzer and Strasburg as relievers like they did vs. LA.
The Astros will be favored as long as they’re still playing.

93 wins after being at 19-31 is actually not that shabby. And it’s so good not to see the Braves – (1) Nats couldn’t do bip against them all year and (2) I loathe that Stepford Chop. And Zimm gets to finally advance in the playoffs.
